RepoTrace | GitHub Contribution Intelligence
RepoTrace is a GitHub contribution intelligence platform that analyzes who built what, measures individual contribution percentages, and reveals how developers shape a codebase. It goes beyond commit counts to provide deeper insights into team contributions and code ownership.

01The Problem
GitHub makes development activity visible, but visibility does not automatically create understanding.
Commit counts, changed lines, and pull request totals provide useful signals. However, they cannot independently explain what someone built, how their work relates to the broader codebase, or how much responsibility they carried.
This creates a problem for open-source maintainers, engineering teams, and project reviewers who want to understand contributions without manually investigating extensive repository histories.
RepoTrace addresses this information gap by connecting measurable activity to the underlying evidence.
02Context
Modern software development is collaborative. A single repository may contain contributions from developers working across different features, architectural layers, and periods.
Traditional contribution dashboards emphasize quantities. RepoTrace explores a different question: What can repository history reliably tell us about the work behind a project?
The platform focuses on public GitHub repositories, making contribution analysis accessible without requiring users to authenticate with GitHub.
03Why This Approach
The fundamental design decision was to prioritize evidence over arbitrary scoring.
